Science is wonderful. But it is not always settled. Sometimes the prevailing view in science is wrong, especially in medicine.

For 2,000 years a primary treatment for disease was bloodletting, sometimes administered with leeches. Doctors don’t do that anymore.

A sedative called thalidomide was approved for use in European and other countries in the 1960s before it was found to cause birth defects.

 

The painkiller OxyContin, about which federal litigation is raging because of its highly addictive and even deadly properties, was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in 1995. A year later an FDA official involved in OxyContin’s approval was hired for a six-figure job at the drug’s manufacturer, Stamford-based Purdue Pharma. Now the drug is blamed for thousands of deaths.

Medical mistakes are considered the third leading cause of death in the United States.

This week it was reported that the FDA had given full, formal approval to the Pfizer vaccine for the COVID-19 virus. But the FDA seems just to have extended the vaccine’s authorization for emergency use.

Whereupon the acting commissioner of Connecticut’s Public Health Department, Dr. Deidre Gifford, urged state residents to “trust the science” and get vaccinated.

It would have been fair to ask the commissioner: Whose science, exactly?

Of course the commissioner wants people to follow the government’s science. But there is other science, though it is increasingly subject to censorship by internet sites and social media under government pressure.

Yes, quacks and cranks infiltrate discussion of the virus epidemic, as they always have infiltrated medicine. But the discussion also includes many highly credentialed doctors and scientists who — at least before they voiced objections and concerns — were renowned and honored in their fields. Some dispute the safety and effectiveness of the vaccines, while others dispute the vaccines’ necessity, arguing that effective treatments for the virus are available.

These doctors and scientists could be mistaken. But censorship isn’t how contrary assertions should be handled. Contrary assertions should be rebutted and learned from in the open.

 

This isn’t happening because government, its allied medical authorities, and, it seems, journalism don’t want a debate that might interfere with their preferred policy, vaccination. They are convinced that they have nothing to learn from the dissenters.

But the public isn’t convinced. Many people are indifferent or even opposed to COVID-19 vaccination, and the policy advocated by many in government and the medical establishment is to stop trying to persuade people and start coercing them by denying them the right to live ordinary lives if they don’t get vaccinated.

Much indifference and much opposition to vaccination are grounded in ignorance and contrariness. But not all.

Anyone paying attention to developments can perceive fair questions. For example, in regard to the Pfizer vaccine particularly, why is the government pushing it when it is still being tested and side-effects are still being discovered? Is this “approval” really a matter of safety or just political necessity?

And why is Israel’s epidemic worsening, with a new wave of virus cases exploding to the level of the country’s first wave even though Israel’s population now may be the world’s most thoroughly vaccinated — primarily with the Pfizer vaccine?

The more what is said to be science relies on censorship and coercion, the less trust it will deserve.

Israel Warns COVID ‘Green Pass’ Will Expire If Residents Don’t Get Third Jab

After being confronted with the fact that widespread vaccination isn’t enough to stop COVID (just look at Israel’s case numbers), public health authorities in the tiny Mediterranean country have decided that the best solution is to double-down on the jabs by defying the WHO and demanding all citizens must get a third jab. Talk about moving the goalposts…

As Israel’s government expands availability of Pfizer-produced COVID booster shots to all inoculated residents age 12 and older, it has also decreed that all those who don’t opt for the third jab will lose their green pass privileges come October, according to a report in RT.

Effective from October 1, the “green pass” required for entry into some gatherings and public places will expire not only six months after the holder receives a second dose, but also six months after their third jab.

Israel expanded access to the booster jabs for the fourth time on Sunday when it opened them up to any patient over the age of 12. By the time Oct. 1 rolls around, hundreds of thousands – if not millions – of Israelis (in a country of 9MM) will need to have gotten their booster shots, or risk losing access to gyms,

Critics have slammed the green pass program for effectively leading an individual to be “de-personed” (a term from George Orwell’s 1984) if they don’t get shots every six months. This will inevitably lead to a “perpetual cycle of jabs,” something the WHO has warned could delay vaccinations for the rest of the planet, especially in the emerging world.

For those who aren’t familiar with the pass (which has been cited as inspiration for a similar system that may be rolled out in the UK), across Israel, a ‘green pass’ is required to access many places others may not, including gyms, restaurants, theaters and cinemas, sports arenas, hotels and cultural events. Additionally, face masks remain mandatory in most of these settings.

What’s more, those who refuse the third jab will be required to quarantine for a week after returning to Israel from abroad. And even those who receive the third shot will need to quarantine after returning from any country not deemed at low or moderate risk of COVID infection. Booster recipients will be allowed to self-isolate for 24 hours or take a test to prove that they’re not infected with the virus.

Israeli PM Naftali Bennett has been a leading proponent of booster shots, saying earlier this month that elderly people who don’t get a third dose are in “mortal danger.”

He has also tried to spin the booster jabs in a positive light, telling Israelis that receiving the booster jabs is a “privilege no other country has” (although Russia has rolled out booster jabs for its Sputnik V vaccine, and the US is moving to allow booster jabs as well).

According to a study published late last week, when it comes to the delta variant, those who have survived natural infection will exhibit much higher levels of immunity than patients who have received two, or even three, Pfizer or Moderna jabs.

And while efficacy estimates for the premier mRNA vaccines continue to fall, chances of a deadly or seriously harmful side effect will likely continue to climb.

On Sunday, protesters in Athens clashed with police against mandatory vaccination measures that go into effect on Sept. 1.

Police estimate about 8,000 people attended the rally in Syntagma Square, the central square of Athens, chanting anti-vaxx slogans and demanding government officials reverse mandatory vaccinations for all health workers that begins Wednesday. 

At least 47 were detained in yesterday’s demonstrations, police said in a statement Sunday evening, reported by local media Iefimerida. 

Police said unruly protesters “threw objects” at police, and riot control response teams had to use tear gas, stun grenades, and water cannons to disperse the crowd.

According to AFP, the demonstrators held signs that read: “We are not against vaccines, but against fascism.” 

For several weeks, Greeks have been angered and taken to the streets to protest mandatory vaccinations, vaccine passports, and other virus-related measures. 

Event the largest industry union, Panhellenic Federation of Employees in Public Hospitals, released a statement earlier this month, indicating it was against mandatory vaccinations for hospital workers. 

The rise in government control over the lives of people under the guise of COVID is absolutely terrifying and continues to spread worldwide. Businesses and the government are forcing mandatory vaccinations and health passports, creating a multi-tier society of those who are vaxxed and unvaxxed.

Meanwhile, businesses and the government are entirely ignoring natural immunity, which could be up to 13x more effective than vaccines.

In an under the radar announcement last week, popular restaurant reservation service OpenTable revealed that it will integrate vaccination status into it’s app and website forms, to enable establishments to enforce vaccine pass mandates.

OpenTable announced that it will partner with digital identification company CLEAR, allowing establishments to indicate whether they require diners to present proof of vaccination.

Customers will then be asked to create a CLEAR account via the OpenTable app and connect their COVID vaccine certificate if they wish to eat in a restaurant that mandates it.

This is yet another indication that the two tier societies we see forming in large metropolitan areas such as New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles are coming to the rest of America and the world.

There are still some hold outs, including Texas, where businesses have been put on notice that asking for proof of a Covid vaccination is illegal in the state.

As we recently noted, a Fox News poll found that a half of Americans believe vaccine mandates and COVID passports for “safety” are more important than “protecting freedom”.

Dr. Anthony Fauci’s latests demand for vaccine mandates is going to have many parents fuming. Parents are already upset at school districts for mandating masks for elementary school children now Fauci is demanding all children to be vaccinated.

“I believe that mandating vaccines for children to appear in school is a good idea,” the chief medical adviser for the White House said Sunday in an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “We’ve done this for decades and decades, requiring polio, measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis. So this would not be something new requiring vaccinations for children to come to school.”

During a separate interview on ABC’s “This Week,” Fauci said that the FDA “hopefully will be acting quickly” to the mRNA vaccine for children under 12.

“The data has been collected and we should have enough data by, I would say, the end of September, middle to end of September, early October, so that those data can then be presented to the FDA to examine for the risk benefit ratio of safety and effectiveness,” Fauci added.

Fauci also hinted that health officials may change how often a person will need a booster shot of the mRNA vaccine.

“We’re still sticking with the eight months,” Fauci said. “However, as we’ve said, even in the original statement that came out, we’re gonna have to go through the standard way of the (Food and Drug Administration) looking at the data and then the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices. So although we’re sticking with eight, we’re remaining flexible, that if the data tells us differently, we’ll make adjustments accordingly. But for now, we’re sticking with the eight.”
